| Subject: Antibiotics, good or bad? Tue Jul 10, 2007 3:36 am | |
| Recently I discovered I had candida , and reading up on the subject everyone has candida in their gut/digestive system but when antibiotics or other substances such as alcohol kill the good bacteria-flora/fauna, candida albicans can overgrow, it's a yeast fungal infection that grows throughout the body rather like a tree with roots and branches. When this happens it can seriously weaken the immune system leading to allsorts of problems with your health and even death can result in bad cases. Antibiotics are not as widely prescribed nowadays and are given rarely in my community anyway probably because of this very reason. If prescribed them then it may be a good idea afterward to eat plenty of live yoghurt which contains friendly bacteria for the gut or take an acidophillus supplement. There are tests that can be done to determine if you have candida. I also did a colon cleanse with a kit and I feel better although not 100%. Candida can cause depression, chronic sinusitis, thrush, rashes, memory lapses and chronic fatigue. If you think you may have this consult your doctor or better still an homeopath/herbalist for treatment.
